Rites: Those of Isis

Generation Notes: The first three cards drawn (nearly!) were: Death, The Lovers and The Devil which just about summarises the basic plot. With a bit part generation was over quickly as expected.

Notes : "Isis of the Nile" Exotic Dancer and star attraction at the "Marid Club" in one of the sleazier Hotels in Cairo. The attached nightclub is a known Gimel for Cairo's Criminal Classes and is (in)famous for its large water tank and underwater dancers wearing minimal swimsuits that seem to fall off with unfailing regularity. Cairo is after all a respectable Islamic Capital! 'Isis' has a reputation of taking ages between each breath and giving a spell binding performance every night! "Jeanette Vertedente" as a Corps de Ballet (Egyptian Opera House) and her respectable Role in polite Cairo Society but as the Ballet does not perform every night she moonlights in the Gimel above. Although nominally the 'hostess companion' of Dr Marcus this does not stop her flirting outrageously with any male she chooses!

* Originally a lowly seven Force Marid (Islamic Water Elemental) Jeanette has over the centuries gained seven of Isis' Ethereal Forces eventually becoming her Left Corporeal Eye and Mole within the OSS. And gained unique abilities of Egyptian Enchantment, unparalleled by any number of years of normal Arcane Study. Thus Empowered she was tasked to infiltrate Saminga's Corporeal Gimel by working her way up through the susceptible members (i.e. the ones that were still alive!) of the 'henmemet' or Inner Council. Eventually ending up with her current 'Master' Marcus Merrow M.D. In order to further develop her cover she was used as a channel by Isis to Ritually Attune her 'Master' to the Ethereal. This Arcane process paving the way for a more subtle and tangible hold. Subsequently and as expected when her Master gained a "Force too Far" part of her substance was used by his Infernal Patrons and one of the Ethereal Forces implanted contained an inverted and covert Soul Link allowing Jeanette (and the real Isis) a subtle control over her erstwhile Master.
Jeanette is thus currently reduced to 13 Forces but can siphon Marcus's excess Essence at will. This can in turn can be passed on to Isis' local Essence Reservoir located in the Nile Grotto and Aquarium on Gezira Island. Here it can be tapped by other lesser Corporeal High Priestesses of Isis's local Cults.

(¶) She knows the True Names of many important River Gods: Hapi, Tiberius, Father Thames, et al. As well as her fellow Marids she has contacts with her Gimel cousins: Nereidae, Oceanidae, the Sirens and assorted Selkies as well as her Continental sisters: Naiads, Nixies, Undines, River Women and Lake Ladies. Even a few Kelpies can be counted as acquaintances! Normally she just gets in contact for a friendly chat! Currently has two fellow Marids as Hand Maidens/ Companions and partners in Crime: Iris and Charmian
